मंगलाचरण

वर्णानामर्थसंघानां रसानां छन्दसामपि। मंगलानां च कर्त्तारौ वन्दे वाणीविनायकौ॥1॥	शब्द, अर्थ समूहों, रसों, छन्दों और मंगलों को करने वाली श्री सरस्वती जी और श्री गणेश जी की मैं वंदना करता हूँ॥1॥	I worship Saraswati (the goddess of speech) and Lord Ganesh, the originators of words represented by the alphabet, their meanings, rasas, meters, and the givers of all blessings.॥1॥
भवानीशंकरौ वन्दे श्रद्धाविश्वासरूपिणौ। याभ्यां विना न पश्यन्ति सिद्धाः स्वान्तःस्थमीश्वरम्‌॥2॥	श्रद्धा और विश्वास के स्वरूप श्री पार्वती जी और श्री शंकर जी की मैं वंदना करता हूँ, जिनके बिना सिद्धजन अपने अन्तःकरण में स्थित ईश्वर को नहीं देख पाते॥2॥	I worship Goddess Parvati and Her consort, Sri Shankar, the embodiments of reverence and faith, without then even the adept cannot perceive God present in their own heart.॥2॥
वन्दे बोधमयं नित्यं गुरुं शंकररूपिणम्‌। यमाश्रितो हि वक्रोऽपि चन्द्रः सर्वत्र वन्द्यते॥3॥	ज्ञानमय, नित्य, शंकर रूपी गुरु की मैं वन्दना करता हूँ, जिनके आश्रित होने से ही टेढ़ा चन्द्रमा भी सर्वत्र वन्दित होता है॥3॥	I worship Lord Shankar, the eternal preceptor, who is all wisdom, and resting on whose forehead, the crescent moon, though crooked in shape, is universally worshipped.॥3॥
सीतारामगुणग्राम पुण्यारण्यविहारिणौ। वन्दे विशुद्धविज्ञानौ कवीश्वरकपीश्वरौ॥4॥	श्री सीता-राम जी के गुणसमूह रूपी पवित्र वन में विहार करने वाले, विशुद्ध विज्ञान सम्पन्न कवीश्वर श्री वाल्मीकि जी और कपीश्वर श्री हनुमान जी की मैं वन्दना करता हूँ॥4॥	I worship the Lord of the poets, Sri Valmiki and the Lord of monkeys, Sri Hanuman, who are full of pure knowledge, and enjoy freely in the holy woods of the glories of Sri Sita and Sri Ram.॥4॥
उद्भवस्थितिसंहारकारिणीं क्लेशहारिणीम्‌। सर्वश्रेयस्करीं सीतां नतोऽहं रामवल्लभाम्‌॥5॥	उत्पत्ति, स्थिति, पालन और संहार करने वाली, क्लेशों को हरने वाली और सभी कल्याणों को करने वाली श्री रामचन्द्र जी की प्रियतमा श्री सीता जी को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ॥5॥	I bow to Sri Sita the beloved consort of Sri Ram, who is responsible for the creation, sustenance and the dissolution (of the universe), removes afflictions and showers all the blessings.॥5॥
यत्सत्त्वादमृषैव भाति सकलं रज्जौ यथाहेर्भ्रमः। यत्पादप्लवमेकमेव हि भवाम्भोधेस्तितीर्षावतां वन्देऽहं तमशेषकारणपरं रामाख्यमीशं हरिम्‌॥6॥	जिनकी माया के वशीभूत सम्पूर्ण विश्व, ब्रह्मादि देवता और असुर हैं, जिनकी सत्ता से रस्सी में सर्प के भ्रम की भाँति यह सारा दृश्य जगत्‌ सत्य ही प्रतीत होता है और जिनके चरणकमल ही भवसागर से तरने की इच्छा वालों के लिए एकमात्र नौका हैं, उन समस्त कारणों से पर, सब कारणों के कारण और सबसे श्रेष्ठ) राम कहलाने वाले भगवान हरि की मैं वंदना करता हूँ॥6॥	I worship Lord Hari, known by the name of Sri Ram, who is superior to and lies beyond all causes, whose Maya (illusive power) holds sway over the entire universe including the gods Brahma (the Creator) etc. and the demons, whose presence lends positive reality to this world of appearances like a rope appears to be a snake and whose feet are the only ship for those eager to cross the ocean of mundane existence.॥6॥
नानापुराणनिगमागमसम्मतं यद् रामायणे निगदितं क्वचिदन्यतोऽपि। स्वान्तःसुखाय तुलसी रघुनाथगाथा भाषानिबन्धमतिमंजुलमातनोति॥7॥	अनेक पुराण, वेद और तंत्र शास्त्र से सम्मत तथा जो रामायण में वर्णित है और कुछ अन्यत्र से भी उपलब्ध श्री रघुनाथजी की कथा को तुलसीदास अपने अन्तःकरण के सुख के लिए अत्यन्त मनोहर भाषा रचना में विस्तृत करता है॥7॥	For the gratification of his own self Tulasidas brings forth this very elegant composition relating in common parlance the story of the Lord of Raghus, in accordance with the various Puranas, Vedas and the agamas (Tantras), and incorporates what has been recorded in the Ramayana (of Valmiki) and culled from some other sources.
जो सुमिरत सिधि होइ गन नायक करिबर बदन। करउ अनुग्रह सोइ बुद्धि रासि सुभ गुन सदन॥1॥	जिन्हें स्मरण करने से सब कार्य सिद्ध होते हैं, जो गणों के स्वामी और सुंदर हाथी के मुख वाले हैं, वे ही बुद्धि के राशि और शुभ गुणों के धाम श्री गणेशजी मुझ पर कृपा करें॥1॥	May Lord Ganesha, the leader of Shiva’s retinue, whose very thought, ensures success, who carries on his shoulders the head of a beautiful elephant, who is a repository of wisdom and an abode of blessed qualities, shower his grace.॥1॥
मूक होइ बाचाल पंगु चढ़इ गिरिबर गहन। जासु कृपाँ सो दयाल द्रवउ सकल कलिमल दहन॥2॥	जिनकी कृपा से गूँगा बहुत सुंदर बोलने वाला हो जाता है और लँगड़ा-लूला दुर्गम पहाड़ पर चढ़ जाता है, वे कलियुग के सब पापों को जला डालने वाले दयालु भगवान मुझ पर द्रवित हों, दया करें॥2॥	May that merciful Lord, whose grace enables the dumb to wax eloquent and a cripple to ascend an inaccessible mountain, and who burns all the impurities of the Kali age, be moved to pity.॥2॥
नील सरोरुह स्याम तरुन अरुन बारिज नयन। करउ सो मम उर धाम सदा छीरसागर सयन॥3॥	जो नीलकमल के समान श्यामवर्ण हैं, पूर्ण खिले हुए लाल कमल के समान जिनके नेत्र हैं और जो सदा क्षीरसागर पर शयन करते हैं, वे भगवान्‌ नारायण मेरे हृदय में निवास करें॥3॥	May the Lord who ever sleeps on the ocean of milk, and who is swarthy as a blue lotus and has eyes resembling a pair of full-blown red lotuses, take up His abode in my bosom.॥3॥
कुंद इंदु सम देह उमा रमन करुना अयन। जाहि दीन पर नेह करउ कृपा मर्दन मयन॥4॥	जिनका कुंद के पुष्प और चन्द्रमा के समान गौर शरीर है, जो पार्वतीजी के प्रियतम और दया के धाम हैं और जिनका दीनों पर स्नेह है, वे कामदेव का मर्दन करने वाले शंकरजी मुझ पर कृपा करें॥4॥	May the crusher of Cupid, Bhagavn Shiva, whose form resembles in colour the jasmine flower and the moon, who is the consort of Goddess Parvati and an abode of compassion and who is fond of the afflicted, be gracious.॥4॥
बंदउँ गुरु पद कंज कृपा सिंधु नररूप हरि। महामोह तम पुंज जासु बचन रबि कर निकर॥5॥	मैं उन गुरु महाराज के चरणकमल की वंदना करता हूँ, जो कृपा के समुद्र और नर रूप में श्री हरि ही हैं और जिनके वचन महामोह रूपी घने अन्धकार का नाश करने के लिए सूर्य किरणों के समूह हैं॥5॥	I bow to the lotus feet of my Guru, who is an ocean of mercy and is no other than Sri Hari Himself in human form, and whose words are sunbeams as it were for dispersing the mass of darkness in the form of gross ignorance.॥5॥
